The Vesak Day

Buddham Sharnam Gachchhami

Vesak (Buddha Purnima, Buddha Jayanti) is a Buddhist festival that marks Lord Gautama Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death. Its association with three main events of Lord Buddha’s life makes it very important day to celebrate. It falls on the day of the Full Moon in April or May ie. Of Vaishakh month, Taurus full moon. This year it is on 26 th May 2021. Tithi timings are very important. This year tithi timings are May 25, 8:30 pm – May 26, 4:43 pm India time.

Apart from performing rituals and worships at homes and Lord Buddha temples and Monasteries, people listen to the monks and sermens. They pay special attention on the teachings of Lord Buddha, especially the five principles called as ‘Panchsheel’ and eight fold Dharma teachings (wheel of dharma with 8 spokes) and do a special meditation in sync with the time all over globe when Lord Buddha and the spiritual masters of all the time and space come down and pour blessings.

“Wesak links east and west, Buddha and Christ, Shamballa and Hierarchy, purpose and love.” Alice Bailey

In this time, Pranic healers perform cleansing excercises and meditate in groups in a specific energy grid.
